INTEGRATIVE BIOLOGY AND BIOTECHNOLOGY LABORATORY

ABOUT US

The Integrative Biology and Biotechnology group (iB2Lab) is a multidisciplinary team working at the forefront of plant biology and microbiology. iB2Lab is part of LAQV-REQUIMTE —an Associated Laboratory rated as Excellent — and is based at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP).

The group currently comprises around 20 members, including Professors, Researchers, Postdoctoral Fellows, PhD candidates, as well as Master's and Bachelor's students.

iB2Lab is involved in 12 ongoing funded R&D projects, of which 8 are national and 4 international. The group leads 3 European projects — MiCropBiomes COST Action, VineProtect, and BiomeHealth—and one national project, SynBiomes.

The group maintains collaborations with several universities, including the University of Aveiro, the University of Coimbra, Wageningen University, the University of Bologna, and the University of Rennes.

iB2Lab employs state-of-the-art techniques in both in vivo and in vitro systems, and has currently two main research lines specialized in Microbiomes interactions, including pathogens and biological control agents) and Plant Biology (Plant Diseases, Climate Changes and plant growth promoters).
